TVUSD accepting applications on board to replace Skumawitz

Applicants from Area 4 are requested for a provisional appointment to the TVUSD Board of Trustees through 2020.

TEMECULA - The Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) is now accepting applications for a district board of trustees vacancy created when trustee Adam Skumawitz chose to resign his seat to avoid a potential conflict of interest.

"The Board met on July 16, 2019, and approved a provisional appointment process to fill the vacant position," according to a press release issued by the district on Wednesday, July 17. "The term of the provisional appointment will expire in November 2020. At that time, the appointed candidate may seek election to fill the remainder of the trustee's term through November 2022."

Applications for the provisional seat are due by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2.

A qualified candidate must be a California registered voter residing in the boundaries of Temecula Valley Unified School District Trustee Area Four; must be at least 18 years of age; should not be disqualified by the constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office; is not an employee of TVUSD; and must be available on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. to attend the TVUSD board meeting and participate in the public interview process.

Application packets are available at the Temecula Valley Unified School District Office at 31350 Rancho Vista Road, Temecula, or online at https://www.tvusd.k12.ca.us/provisionalappt.

Packets are being accepted from 7:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the district office. Completed application packets may be attached to an e-mail and sent to Debra Jilek by email at [email protected] All applications are due by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2.
