Women from all walks of life volunteer for Women Build event

Future homeowner Rita Berringer becomes emotional watching volunteers help her build her new home in Lake Elsinore during the Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley women building event Friday, July 12.

With temperatures in the low 90s and climbing, a team of more than 30 women banded together Friday, July 12, to raise the walls on a new home in Lake Elsinore for a single mother and her four boys.

Groups of three held up walls and waited for other volunteers to come over to hammer in nails to hold the walls upright while others performed a variety of construction duties – periodically taking breaks to escape the summer heat.

Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley's latest build project will replace the historical Jean Hayman home in Lake Elsinore and will soon become home to Rita Berringer...
