Hemet Council seeks additional emergency vehicle preemption detectors from Caltrans

The Hemet City Council will be requesting that Caltrans install four more Emergency Vehicle Preemption Detector traffic signal systems at Florida Avenue intersections during the construction of raised medians on the state highway through the center of the city.

The Caltrans Florida Avenue Raised Median project, which is considered a necessary safety measure to reduce cross over head-on collisions on Highway 74 between the I-215 to Mountain Avenue in Valle Vista, brought objections from the city council and merchants along the Hemet portion of the highway.
