Valley-Wide gym named after retiring 30-year coach and recreation supervisor Michael Paul

Longtime Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District employee Michael Paul, pictured right with former Major League pitcher Troy Percival, will be recognized during a retirement celebration Friday, July 12, when the gymnasium at the Sport Center at Regional Park in San Jacinto is named for him.

HEMET – Michael Paul, a coach and recreation supervisor for the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District, was honored by many of his friends and invited guests following his retirement from the district, Friday, July 12.

The Valley-Wide Sport Center gymnasium was named after Paul, who officially retired in December, during the dedication and retirement celebration.

During his 30 years, Paul served as a recreation supervisor, organizing and coordinating youth sports leagues. He also coached and officiated many games.

Valley-Wide General Manager Dean Wetter made the announcement and presided over the celebration that began that day at 6 p.m. outside the Sport Center, 901 W. Esplanade Ave., San Jacinto.

Wetter joined many other friends and fans at the celebration to thank Paul for his work coaching many children in the community.
