LAKE ELSINORE (CNS) - A biker was hurt in a crash on a major Lake Elsinore thoroughfare, sheriff's deputies said on Thursday, Aug. 1.

Paramedics and law enforcement were called around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Railroad Canyon Road and Tassel Way in response to a crash, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Steve Jimenez said.

They found a motorcyclist traveling west on Railroad Canyon had collided with a Honda Civic making a left turn from Tassel Way, and the injured biker was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.

Sheriff's deputies did not reveal the motorcyclist's condition, but Lake Elsinore Mayor Steve Manos described the crash as involving a "possible fatality'' in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Investigators were looking into the cause of the crash on Thursday, and it's unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors, Jimenez said.

Several lanes of Railroad Canyon were closed in both directions for about three-and-a-half hours after the crash, according to Jimenez.

Deputies asked anyone who may have information on the crash to call them at (951) 245-3300.
