Blaze stopped before reaching homes in Good Hope

GOOD HOPE (CNS) - A grass fire that broke out on Friday, July 26 in a field behind several houses in Good Hope was knocked down after blackening about a quarter acre.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 11:56 a.m. in the 22500 block of Rocky Hills Road, just east of Old Elsinore Road, roughly 1 1/2 miles to the west of Perris, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Engine crews encountered flames burning slowly through parched grass, within a couple hundred feet of several residences, but were able to quickly encircle the blaze, which was contained by 12:25 p.m. No properties were damaged.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
