Injuries reported in Lake Elsinore head-on crash

LAKE ELSINORE - An investigation was continuing on Thursday, Aug. 8 into a head-on injury crash in Lake Elsinore.

Around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, a GMC Terrain heading south on Collier Avenue near Chaney Street crossed into opposing traffic for unknown reasnos and struck a Ford Fusion heading northbound, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Steve Jimenez said.

The occupants of both vehicles were taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, but Jimenez did not say how many people were in the vehicles or specify the extent of their injuries.

Deputies were still investigating the crash, but alcohol or drugs were not believed to be a factor, Jimenez said.

Both lanes of Collier Avenue were shut down for several hours during the initial investigation.
