Ferguson steps away from Murrieta Fire & Rescue

Murrieta Fire and Rescue Chief Scott Ferguson retires from active duty late last month and turns over the reigns to Chief David Lantzer, July 20. Ferguson will serve as a consultant helping to build the city of Placentia's planned independent fire department.

Former Murrieta Fire and Rescue Chief Scott Ferguson turned over the reigns of the department to Chief David Lantzer late last month. Going forward, Ferguson will help in building the city of Placentia's new, independent fire department, set to open in 2020.

But Ferguson wants to be clear that he didn't leave Murrieta for Placentia.

"It was just time," Ferguson said. "(My wife) Maria and I did a lot of praying. The city is under good leadership and the department is currently on a very good path. Chief David Lantzer is the right guy for the department's future, and we needed a little more...
