SAN JACINTO - One person was killed and another suffered moderate injuries on Monday, Aug. 12 in a head-on collision on the Ramona Expressway in San Jacinto, authorities said.

It was reported at 4:30 a.m. on the expressway at Bridge Street, the Riverside County Fire Department said.

An ambulance took the injured person to a hospital, fire officials said.

The Ramona Expressway remained closed between Bridge Street and Warren Road as of 10 a.m., creating traffic problems for morning commuters heading west out of San Jacinto and Hemet.

It's the second deadly crash on that stretch of road in the last few days. On Saturday, 26-year-old David Joya was killed in a head-on crash with a semi-truck, also on the Ramona Expressway near Bridge Street.
