Lane resigns from Murrieta council after accepting presidential appointment

Randon Lane announced he would be leaving the Murrieta City Council and dropping out of the Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor's race after he accepted a presidential appointment within the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Murrieta Mayor Pro Tem Randon Lane announced Tuesday, Aug. 6, that he would be resigning from the city council effective Aug. 31, to accept a presidential appointment within the U.S. Department of Transportation in Washington.

"I am incredibly excited, incredibly honored and looking forward to taking on a role at the DOT," Lane said in a phone interview Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Lane said that with the help of Congressman Ken Calvert he submitted his name for consideration for a possible appointment and that he has been going through the process of appointment since the beginning of 2019.
