RIVERSIDE – Murrieta is the first city in western Riverside County to complete the conversion of their streetlights to LED technologies as part of a regional program to purchase and retrofit approximately 55,000 streetlights.

Retrofitting the lights will result in a savings of $6.5 million over 20 years to the city.

Through participation in the Western Riverside Council of Governments’ Regional Streetlight Program, Murrieta purchased approximately 6,500 utility-owned streetlights. The city selected new energy-efficient LED fixtures and began streetlight conversion in February 2019.
