Cadenza String Orchestra of Temecula Valley wins first place in Vienna

The Cadenza String Orchestra of Temecula Valley competes at the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, winning first place in an international youth music competition, July 7.

TEMECULA – Cadenza String Orchestra of Temecula Valley won first place, July 7, at an international music competition in Vienna. The event, which lasted five days, was hosted by the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival on their 13th year of celebrating music and diversity.

Students played at historic The Golden Hall of the Musikverein. Cadenza String Orchestra of Temecula Valley was also one of the few groups chosen to perform at the winners' concert at The Wiener Konzerthaus.

The Cadenza String Orchestra of Temecula Valley play in the winners' concert at Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna, in honor of their first place win in the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival.

Cadenza String Orchestra, a nonprofit organization, under the direction of Sandiwa del Rosario, has been bringing music to the community for 19 years. Students regularly play at senior homes and help charities at fundraising events such as Rachel's Vineyard, Lifenote, Sta. Rosa Plateau Nature Education Foundation, Temecula Woman's Club and Assistance League to name a few. 

The orchestra has played at St. Catherine of Alexandria and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Temecula and Menifee. They collaborated with choirs from St. Martha Catholic Church in Murrieta, Filipino Community Choir at Our Lady of Angels in Los Angeles, St. Thomas Episcopal in Temecula and the Escondido Choral Arts at the California Center for the Arts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

The orchestra's next concerts will be Sunday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Ronald H. Roberts Temecula Public Library, sponsored by the Friends of the Temecula Public Libraries.
