CHP Temecula Area needs help from public in fatal hit-and-run

The California Highway Patrol Temecula Area is asking for the public's help in identifying the driver of the vehicle in the photo, which they believe might have been involved in a hit and run accident on Aug. 8 in which a pedestrian was killed.

HOMELAND - The California Highway Patrol Temecula Area is seeking the public's help in identifying the driver of a white utility truck that they said struck a male pedestrian on State Route 74, failed the stop and fled the scene. The pedestrian died at the scene.

The accident happened at approximately 8:20 p.m. Aug. 8 when the adult male pedestrian was walking southbound across State Route 74 (SR-74) in the No. 1 lane, just east of Agnew Avenue.

According to CHP Officer Mike Lassig, "The hit and run suspect was driving a white utility truck westbound in the No. 1 lane of SR-74 just east of Agnew Avenue approaching the male pedestrian. The white utility truck's front end collided with the pedestrian. The suspect driver failed to stop and fled the scene to an unknown location."

CHP Temecula Area is handling this traffic collision investigation and asks the public to see the photo provided in the public announcement of what is the possible suspect vehicle. The photo was taken from a surveillance camera near the collision scene.
