TEMECULA - A 30-year-old North Carolina man arrested in Temecula was jailed on Friday, Aug. 23 on suspicion of human trafficking.

Riverside police began an investigation in June after a woman contacted the department to report she was being sexually exploited, the department said.

The suspect was identified as Bryonte DeShawn Virgil and he was taken into custody Thursday in Temecula by Vice Unit officers and the department's SWAT team, police said.

Virgil was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center. He was due in court Monday afternoon.

Detectives said they believe there may be additional victims of sexual exploitation who have not come forward.

Anyone with information regarding this human trafficking investigation or has been victimized by Virgil was asked to contact Riverside Police Department Detective J. Sturdavant at 951-353-7204 or [email protected]
