Kirk Medeiros of Craft Brewing Company, center, invites everyone to come down to the brewery's Old Town Temecula location for the Labor Day Weekend Beer Crawl Saturday, Aug. 31.

Kirk Medeiros of Craft Brewing Company has a great idea for helping hard-working Americans unwind during Labor Day weekend.

His Labor Day Weekend Beer Crawl promises to be a great way to walk at a leisurely pace, sip on some fine, local craft beers and celebrate all things not related to work.

Starting at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, participants can pick up a punch card at Old Town Temecula Craft Brewing Company, stay and try some of their offerings or head over to participating breweries, Ironfire Brewing Old Town Outpost Tasting Room, Crush & Brew and Stone Church Brewing Temecula.

"When they are done (7 p.m.), we all meet back at our place and do a raffle including all the participating breweries," Medeiros said.

Participants will pay as they go at each establishment. Medeiros said Craft Brewing Co. will be offering its Anti-Moralist, "which is a coffee stout aged in maple whiskey barrels and our Lime Craft Hard Seltzer," he said.

Since moving into their Old Town Temecula location last year, Medeiros said he loves putting on beer crawls.

"We try to do one about once per quarter with exception to the last quarter," he said. "We will have another one for Halloween on Oct. 26 and one for Christmas – the 'Ugly Sweater Beer Crawl' on Dec. 14."

He said craft breweries like his are starting to have a significant impact on the tourism revenue numbers.

"Temecula Valley is becoming a well-known craft beer scene," Medeiros said. "The Temecula Brewers Guild just paid for an environmental impact study, and the results of the study said the Temecula Breweries and Tasting Rooms provided $35 million in revenue to the city. With an event like our beer crawl, it helps build the craft beer scene more and more in the area."

Sure, it is important to quote numbers like that, but Medeiros knows events like his also bring something more valuable on Labor Day weekend – fun.

He said he hopes participants will leave the event and "tell their friends what a great time they had and then look forward to the next one."

Craft Brewing Company is located at 41955 Fourth Street, Unit 101, in Old Town Temecula. No preregistration is necessary.

"What makes it great is that we're all within a quarter mile of each other," Medeiros said. "It is good for the community, and we're all about the community."

Medeiros also mentioned that the brewery's Lake Elsinore location will be hosting an Oktoberfest, Sept. 28 that will feature a polka band, an adult-sized tricycle to be used in relay races and many more games.
